Finding a great pub within a walking distance from your home is rather exciting, especially if you have as much love for delicious food as Ben and I do. So once we heard about The Jolly Postboys, we decided to pay this pub a visit.
The Jolly Postboys have a great selection of local craft beers – great excuse to have a refreshing pint of something new, giving other world beer brands a break.
The atmosphere inside is lovely, it has a rustic, relaxing, gastro-pub feel to it. Warm colours and cozy surroundings. Loved what they do with the lamps, although the pictures wouldn’t do a visual justice, so you just need to go and see for yourself.
I love places that have flexible menus, and having an option between a la carte and sharing boards menus was a pleasant surprise. Especially considering how reasonably priced the boards are!
Whilst we were choosing our food, a friendly local couple at the table next to us were eagerly giving recommendations about the dishes and kept praising the pub since its re-opening. They had their little cute dog with them, which, according to the story, was the first creature to enter the pub since it’s opened its doors. And yes, The Jolly Postboys welcomes dogs! 🙂
They then offered to take a picture of us, which coincided with the arrival of food, which looked and smelled amazing, as you can see it on Ben’s face 🙂
So what did we get? 8 board dishes for £20! Not only all of the food was delicious (although not terribly healthy 🙂 ), we got absolutely stuffed and couldn’t even consider a dessert.
